Optimal is a preference

If we can only operate when things are optimal, then it stops being a useful tool and instead makes us fragile.

Me and my pillow

Me and my pillow

Where possible, I travel with my pillow from home. It’s a cooling memory foam pillow and I love it. I sleep best with it. But when I can’t, I still go to bed, try to get as good a night's sleep as I can, and when I wake up, I still do the best I can do for the day, even if my sleep wasn’t optimal.

If you usually workout on the weekends for 60 minutes, but you’ve got a relative staying over, then do what you can by adjusting the plan.

  • Do it earlier

  • Do it later

  • Adjust the workout

  • do it in 3 separate blocks throughout the day

  • Do it the day before/after.

Don’t let your preference for optimal make you fragile.

I regularly write about the importance of a plan and how you can only adjust it if you have one to begin with. Just as important as building the optimal plan is being willing to adjust it when the time comes.

Guys in the builtXyou™ Transformation Program hear me say this often…

”planning is necessary, action is essential”.

Make a plan, stick to it often, adjust it when necessary, and keep taking action.

If the time has come for you to have a plan, then I can help with that. I provide personalized training programs and 1-on-1 nutrition coaching to help people prioritize, plan, and execute on the highest impact actions for their goals. If you want to take the guess work out of training, quiet the noise about nutrition, and get regular professional support from an experienced, caring, and knowledgable coach then let’s work together.
