If you can't stick to your habits...then they don't work
Habits aren’t fixed and the best ones need to evolve to serve you - here’s how to do it.
“Habit” has become a buzzword that has lost a lot of its meaning in today's world. In essence, a habit is something that we do that has become automatic within our environment.
A habit can serve us, it can be neutral, or it can hold us back.
A habit that serves us might be brushing our teeth after drinking coffee.
A neutral habit might be preferring to drink coffee over tea.
A habit that holds us back might be drinking that coffee just before we go to bed each night.
Great plan + poor execution = wrong plan
Many guys come to builtXyou with a history of well intentioned habits set up, but who still struggle to take action on them. They say things like…
I always planned to workout in the morning, but after a few days I ended up missing a workout.
I always planned to meal prep on a Sunday for 2 hours, but I can never seem to guarantee that I will have the time.
I always planned to get 8 hours of sleep, but I never seem to be able to get to bed on time consistently.
Don’t give up. Improve.
These then, aren’t habits. They’re behaviors that have yet to become automatic and patterned. Because they aren’t yet habitual, guys get down on themselves that they can’t stick to a habit, rather than continuing to refine them until they fit better.
If you set up habits that you can’t follow, then they don’t work yet. The only way to make them better is practice, adjustment, and persistence.
Habits are iterative and will only become part of your daily life when they are simple, obvious, rewarding, and realistic.
At builtXyou, we coach guys how to tailor the highest impact actions and habits in to their lives so that they can get transformative health, fitness and physique results.
Thats what Jake did. We worked together to tailor our system to his needs and lifestyle in a way that was most conducive to him being able to stick to it.
