QUICK START > quick fix

I am encouraged to hear so many more unique versions of new years resolutions so far this year. Things like;
- "Weekly self-care"
- "Work/life boundaries"
- "Learning to play an instrument"
- "more phone calls with family/friends"
- Even "don't set unrealistic resolutions/goals" has made the list.

These are all bucks to the trend of the classic and nebulous "lose 20lbs". Let me be clear, I'm not saying a goal of losing 20lbs is somehow invalid, far from it. Improving your body composition might be a really fruitful endeavor for you.

No matter your decided goal, I challenge everyone to consider the resolution aspect of things as a "quick start" instead of a "quick fix". It’s probably true that you can "do anything for 30 seconds/7days/6 weeks." And...when that time is up, it’s important to remember that it’s not over. So many fitness products in particular promise radical improvement in “just 6 weeks”... and that’s very often true. And then there is a need to keep going.

- Once you’ve been promoted, you'll have to keep doing the job.
- Once you’ve learned the skill, you'll need to start to apply it in practice.
- Once you’ve eaten the thing. You need to eat it again.

My unsolicited but experienced advice as a fitness professional and enthusiast is to think;

QUICK START > quick fix.
