We all need encouragement

The guys we work with at builtXyou are leaders in their fields, managers of teams, parents to multiple kids, dedicated and hard working partners, and generally high flyers. 

It can be easy from the outside to assume that these guys are motivated, driven, and confident.

And yet - they’re all working with a coach to improve themselves. Very often, this comes from being deficient in those exact areas.

Because they’re dedicated leaders, parents, and partners - they often neglect themselves and their needs. They come last in the pecking order. They don’t have anyone encouraging them, helping them stay the course, have a long term perspective, supporting them when tey feel like it’s not worth it.

Ultimately - we are all humans - and though some might have more confidence or insecurities than others, we all need support and encouragement. Especially when we are embarking on something new.

Now I’m not saying you need a cheer squad or a marching band chanting your name when you sit down at your desk each day. That's not encouragement - that's bravado.

Encouragement is recognition of the realities and a positive word or action to help you work through difficulties.

Encouragement in a way, is outsourcing or offloading some of the pressure to an external so that you can focus on the effort needed to make things happen in your limited bandwidth.

As part of our coaching at builtXyou, every guy completes a weekly self review - the final question in that review is “What areas can your coach support in you for the coming week?

I’d guess that over 50% of the weekly answers from our guys are encouragement related. These guys know what to do, they know how to do it, and they can do it better with a positive nudge, encouragement, and belief from their coach.
