Adherence is the key to every busy guys success

6 part Adherence series to help busy guys make lasting physique, health, and fitness changes.

Most guys think of motivation as an elusive trait that they simply need more of to be successful when in fact, motivation is just 1 part of your bigger health and fitness picture called adherence.

Low adherence is the #1 reason guys don’t get the results they want.

No matter your goal, you’ll need 3 things…

  1. A clear plan customized to your goals, preferences, and experience.

  2. To regularly track key metrics and supportive accountability from an expert coach.

  3. Realistic expectations and action consistently and frequently enough in high impact areas.

Once you have these 3 key components all you need to do is adhere to the plan.

Easy right? Obviously not.

We get it, adherence is easier said than done when work is busy and kids have hockey practice 7 nights per week.

In this mini-series you’ll learn the 6 components of adherence and how to use them to be successful with your physique, health, and fitness efforts long term.

Each of the following components plays a crucial role in helping us stick with our efforts;

  1. Inspiration

  2. Motivation

  3. Intention

  4. Discipline

  5. Habit

  6. Passion

1. Inspiration

Inspiration is what social media is full of. Catchy quotes about overcoming adversity layered on a body transformation montage. Think of this like a hype song. It’s what gets you going, but burns out quickly.

Inspiration is finite and is good for initial bursts of action but doesn’t last long. Think minutes and hours not days and weeks.

We feel inspiration both positively and negatively. Both of which are normal feelings. We might feel positively inspired to get in shape after watching a movie where the character becomes fit, and we might feel negatively inspired to change our health after receiving an ultimatum from our doctor.

Both are short term bursts that help us jump into action and can be used to great effect at the start of a plan.

To maximize the effects of inspiration it helps to surround yourself with people who are making the same efforts and in the same areas as you can be incredibly inspiring.

Seeing people like you have great success and hearing their stories allows you to see yourself in their journey and can be incredibly inspiring as it gives you the confidence and self belief that you can do the same. Shameless plug – this is why the builtxyou™ Transformation Program is specifically designed for busy guys with limited time and resources to spare – because every success a guy has shows another guy like them that this system work for them too. It’s inspiring!

Don’t expect to be inspired all the time, but if you feel inspired, let it drive you to action and appreciate that it won’t last forever. In order to make it stick, you’ll need motivation….and we will talk about that in the next article.
