You're Boring, Jay

Do you want to be entertained, or do you want results?

“I like to mix things up, keep my body guessing, I get bored doing the same exercises and eating the same foods.”

If I had a penny for the amount of times I’ve heard this uttered over the last decade of being in gyms, I’d have a lot of bloody pennies!

Every week I write these blogs and send these emails talking about the exact same stuff.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever titled an article “try this new X” or “spice up your X with Y”.

Why?

Because we know what works.

We talk about the same stuff over and over because that's what works. It might be “boring”, but it’s bound by science, backed by research, and shown in results.

  • Training is bound by specificity and progressive overload/stimulus.

  • Nutrition is bound by energy balance and thermodynamics.

  • Everything is bound by the application of effort and consistency.

Boring. But unequivocally true.

So every piece of content we write, guide we create, podcast we do, and 1-on-1 client check in we have, we talk about the same things.
