Your body doesn’t care - Part I

Carbohydrates: does it really matter where they come from?

Multiple points to takeaway from this post;

The “if it fits your macros” crowd specifically (but so have endurance athletes, swimmers, strongmen, etc ) have proven in many ways that physiologically, our bodies don’t care that much about where we get our carbohydrates from. Especially if we’re training frequently, our bodies are truly incredible at utilizing calories from ANY AND ALL carbohydrates (from potatoes to pizza).

If having some ice cream now and then helps you stay consistent 80-90% of the time then it’s highly probable that you’ll be more successful long term. We know abstinence isn’t sustainable, nor is it needed to be successful.

Again, Carbohydrates DO NOT MAKE US GAIN WEIGHT.

We are told that natural is better, unprocessed is better, organic is better. This isn’t entirely true and can be a very limiting belief when you have specific goals. The “naturalistic fallacy” can lead us to believe that it HAS to be unprocessed, organic, grass fed etc. or we are undoing our good work when in actual fact, there is little evidence to show that this is the case.

Also, Carbohydrates DO NOT MAKE US GAIN WEIGHT.

You can eat densely calorie laden pizza, ice cream, and cake one day AND the next day, not. I try to highlight with those I work with that really, there is no “on a diet”. There is only time and decisions. The more efficient decisions we can make in relation to our goals the closer we will get and the sooner. We are always one efficient decision away from being right back on track. Please remember this. Whether your extra calories were planned or not, just start again and don’t wait.
