Is your goal YOUR goal?
Limiting beliefs, absolutist thinking, and critical thinking skills.
We’ve all got our own limiting beliefs. Whether it’s that “your body needs to be kept guessing in a workout”. Whether it’s that “X diet is the only diet that works”.
I definitely had/have and they’re almost definitely holding me back.
The 2 lightbulb moments for me have been;
Realizing that I am not someone else’s expectations; If I want to train like a body builder for a more aesthetic goal, then that’s what I want. I fell prey in the past to the narrative that everyone should train like an athlete and it was about “what you can do not what you look like” and that vanity goals are shallow and fair game for ridicule.
There are few principles but many methods; Science applies to us all equally. We will need calorie deficits to lose weight, progressive overload to grow muscle, adequate sleep to recover, and a few others. There is no magic corner cutting secret recipe for literally anything and that the body isn’t something you can trick, shock, or hack.
Be your own person, have your own goals, and select realistic and accurate measures to help you achieve them. If you don’t know what’s real and what’s bollocks anymore, send me an email here and let’s chat.
