“Eating the same thing all the time isn’t sustainable”

Ok. Why isn’t it?

Absolutist “my way or the highway” statements and thinking are easy to stand behind but rarely actionable. The chances are, the person saying this, has in the past tried eating the same thing everyday, it didn’t feel sustainable FOR THEM, and so they generalize that it isn’t suitable for ANYONE. Some of you might thrive in eating the same thing everyday. It might suit YOUR needs, YOUR preferences, and YOUR goals.

As always. Context is key and it will inevitably take a little trial and error in our own practices to work out if some repetition is actually useful or not.

It might also be useful sometimes, and then not others. We might thrive on periods of repetition and consistency when work is busy, schedules are demanding, time is tight, and decision fatigue is our nemesis. Other times it might suit us to create a very flexible scenario with our nutritional needs.

Rigidity is almost never the answer in nutrition settings in my personal and professional experience.

Critical thinking, trial and error, and consistency usually are.
